The traditional edge banding technique is to apply adhesive to the edge banding area of a plate, then use a linear edge banding machine and a curved edge banding machine to transfer the edge banding strip to a specified orientation, and then press the edge banding strip onto the plate through a pressure roller to obtain the edge banding workpiece.

1. Traditional edge banding skills
Currently, most edge banding machines use hot melt adhesives, including EVA hot melt adhesives, polyolefin hot melt adhesives, PUR hot melt adhesives, etc. The hot melt adhesives are solid at room temperature, and turn into a molten state after heating, with adhesive effects. After cooling, they harden quickly, and then achieve edge banding.
2. Laser edge banding
Laser edge banding is the process of emitting high-energy laser light through a laser edge banding machine, irradiating it onto the edge banding belt through a mirror, then ablating the special polymer on the edge banding belt, and then using a press machine to press the edge banding belt onto the plate for trimming, polishing, and other processes to complete edge banding.
Laser edge banding technology reduces processing costs by reducing a series of processes such as heating, gluing, and cleaning, and also reduces the impact of uncertainties in the process on the quality of edge banding workpiece, ensuring processing accuracy and integrity of edge banding.
3. Hot air edge sealing
Hot air edge banding is the process of pre coating adhesive onto the edge banding belt. Before the edge banding belt contacts the workpiece, the hot air edge banding machine sprays high-temperature and high-pressure hot air through the nozzle onto the edge banding belt to melt the adhesive. Then, the edge banding belt is immediately pressed onto the workpiece using a press machine, and the edge banding process is completed through processes such as trimming and polishing.
4. Injection molding edge sealing
The edge banding materials used for injection molding edge banding are mainly PP or PE, which are adsorbed on wood-based panels to form edge banding strips with low peel strength and are not prone to aging and damage. Compared to traditional plastic edge banding techniques, the injection molding edge banding process improves edge banding quality and reduces the edge banding process.
