Edge banding is a material used to decorate and protect the edges of ecological panels, with the same finish appearance as the panel. Edge banding is a good method for treating the exposed edges of ecological panels. There are many types of edge banding, with widths and lengths to choose from. Edge banding can protect furniture from the impact of moisture and the environment. PVC edge banding can greatly reduce water absorption, with a wide range of color and tone choices, and can match the surface tone of molded furniture.
It is not difficult to apply the edge banding. You need to prepare some tools and materials, such as trimming tools and ordinary household irons.
First, clean the cutting edge of the ecological board, remove the burrs and uneven places on it, and use sandpaper to polish it flat. Then, strategize the entire length and take a section of the edge banding strip.
Place it on the edge of the board. Most edge banding strips on the market have glue on them. When edge banding is performed, press it down, and then press it along the edge with an iron. Use the high temperature of the iron to quickly penetrate the glue into the interior of the wood. After cooling, it can form a solid adhesive layer. After cooling, use scissors to trim the edges to keep the edge banding smooth. To trim the long edges, start at one end and use a trimmer along the edge. You can simultaneously cut the trimmers on both sides, and then gently polish the edges with 220 grit sandpaper to make the appearance appear smoother.
Select a size suitable for the width of the board. If the material does not contain glue, you need to apply a strong adhesive to the edge of the board. After applying, trim and keep it aligned, with the top and bottom flush with the board. Scrape off the excess glue and polish it. The commonly used edge bonding adhesives are PVA or P hot melt adhesives, which are flexible at high temperatures, durable and tough at low temperatures, and have excellent waterproof properties. Select these two types of adhesives for edge bonding. There are a variety of edge banding strips on the market, with a variety of finishes and patterns, from natural wood grain to solid finishes. Be careful to choose one that matches the color of the board.
